Our ‘How It Works’ Guide to Bridal Alterations

Hello everyone!

We know that your wedding day is the most special day of our lives so here at the Honiton Dressmaker, we strive to make your dress exactly how you imagine it to be.

HOW IT WORKS

At your first appointment we will spend plenty of time getting to know you, finding out all about your wedding plans and discussing what alterations you would like us to make.

For some brides this may just be the necessary tweaks to ensure that your gown fits you perfectly, others may want more dramatic changes to the shaping to create something more unique. Rest assured that whatever alterations need to be made we will fully explain how the changes will work and pin everything in place so that you will have a good idea of what the finished gown will look like.

Now is the time to consider things like hem and train length, neckline shaping or sleeve length, or if you will need bust cups for added support. We can also add details to your dress such as lace appliques, beading or sequins for sparkle, waistline embellishments, or even buttons all the way down the back!

You must remember to bring your wedding shoes, underwear, accessories and any design ideas with you. We can then ensure that all details are working correctly with your dress.

At your second fitting the alterations will be completed and you can finally see how the dress looks and feels now it is fitted to you. If everything is perfect then we will arrange a date for you to collect your dress. If any minor tweaks are still required we will have another fitting to ensure you are completely satisfied.

Before collecting your dress we will ensure that it has been fully pressed or steamed and is in perfect condition to wear on the big day!
